As “Delfi” informs the organizers of the concert, Līva Dumpe is a Latvian vocalist, pianist and composer. The musician has spent the last five years studying in Amsterdam and collaborating with such artists as Ben van Gelder, Louis Cole and Metropole Orkest. The young composer’s work is a collection of emotional events in musical forms, where simple melodies and lyrics in Latvian contrast with bravura, defiant exclamations.
According to the organizers, five outstanding artists of the new generation of jazz and improvised music from Italy, Israel, the Netherlands and Latvia will take the stage, creating a balance between the sound of chamber music using flute, voice, double bass, and rich, rhythmic motifs of drums and electric guitar. The special guest of the concert will be Kristīne Cīrule.
The guiding principle of the “Atmosphere” concert series is how not to rush time, how to feel good here and now, how to “slow down”. Four artists will introduce the essence of their “Atmosphere” to the audience in the four-season concert series: on April 30, a concert by the German pianist and composer Pablo Held took place, on August 20, Liva Dumpe will gather the audience for a summer concert, on September 10, the American vocalist, composer and guitarist Sam will perform Amidon, but as the closing artist of the concert series, the Mexican vocalist, composer, poet Fuensanta Mendes will perform on the “Gora” stage at the beginning of 2023.
As the curator of the concert series, Edgars Cīrulis, says: “This concert series will not tell the listeners what they should think. Music will separate the room from what is happening around, will create a safe environment where you can close your eyes and feel fully present, invited, included, intrigued. the purpose of the cycle is an environment where the listener’s presence creates an interaction with the space, the atmosphere, the musician and other listeners.”
