“We hope it will be released quickly and if we can in November we can fulfill the existing conditions,” he said.

Previously, the organization of labor associations in the Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), namely the Indonesian Workers’ Council (MPBI) asked the DIY government to increase the Regency or City Minimum Wage (UMK) of 3.7 million rupees to 4.2 million rupees.

DPD Confederation of All-Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPSI) DIY secretary general, who is also MPBI member, Irysad Ade Irawan, said the 266th anniversary celebration of the city of Yogyakarta and the inauguration of the DIY governor 2022-2027 did not at all describe the well-being of do-it-yourself residents, especially workers or workers.

“It is ironic that the splendor of the celebration is just a syrup that will instantly deflect the suffering of DIY residents due to the low wage policy that has affected them,” Irsyad said in a written statement, Thursday (27 / 10/2022).

According to him, the do-it-yourself special mandate, which since 2012 has required the do-it-yourself governor and his staff to thrive and reassure DIY residents, has not been achieved.

Although there have been DIY Governor speeches every 5 (five) annual inaugurations, the poverty rate and economic inequality are still high in the province that bears this special predicate.

“The title of the governor’s speech is like a ‘festival of words’. Because apart from the word festival, in March 2022 the percentage of poor in DIY exceeded the national figure. The poverty rate in DIY was 11.34 percent, far above the national poverty rate which is only 9.54 percent, “he explained.
