Tranzits is a Latvian dance music group. The group was formed in 1994 at the “Sinepes und Medus 1994” festival. The group “PEA” – Ralfs Rubenis and Aldis Zaļuksnis won awards for the best arrangements and lyrics, as well as an invitation for further collaboration to record an album.
What were the beginnings of “Transit” in 1994?
I was a DJ then and now. My way of thinking is when I hear a song, immediately: what can I mix it with? Am I the only one who hasn’t borrowed from someone? [kādu dziesmas motīvu]?
Professional cretinism comes into play. DJing was the fastest way to get there.
Roberts Gobziņš did the same. Foreign instrumental pieces were found, Latvian text was placed on top. That’s what I did, just less with humor, more with heart. I differ in that, in addition to this accompaniment, I also sing. My neighbor at that time was Aldis Załuksnis from the group “5. slag”, who is also currently working as a DJ. We have formed a partnership.
Aldi had the instruments, but I felt like singing. Thus was born the first composition of “Transit”.
