The solidarity of the Castilian and Leonese countryside che ranchers affected by the fires in the province of Ávila, especially Navalacruz, which has devastated more than 22,000 hectares, is unparalleled, and the sector is always there to help out when needed.
And it is that farmers from four municipalities in the provinces of Zamora and Valladolid located in the region of Tierra de Campos have delivered this Saturday 67 tons of straw to the cattle ranchers affected by the flames of what is considered the fourth most serious fire in the history of Spain.
The donation has been delivered in five trucks that have left early in the morning from the provinces of Zamora and Valladolid, of which three have unloaded the straw in the Avila municipality of Solosancho and the other two in Sotalbo, according to one of the donors, Juan Fernandez. “When a debacle of these happens, you have to try to help as best as possible “This farmer has declared that he did not hesitate to donate the straw he had packed, ”he says in statements collected by Efe.
This farmer from Manganese of the Lampreana last Monday communicated his intention to donate straw through the social network Facebook and made an appeal in case there were other professionals in the field who wanted to collaborate in the selfless giving.
He did so after seeing the devastating consequences of the fire that started last Saturday in the municipalities of Avila Navalacruz and Cepeda de la Mora and empathize with those affected. The donation was joined by other farmers in the Zamora town of Belver de los Montes and the Valladolid of Villanueva de los Caballeros and Urueña, all of them with packing machine and with wheat straw, barley and oats ready for transport.
Even Sotalbo have been taken and delivered to the city council for distribution among the affected farmers two trucks of 63 and 51 packages that add about 28 tons of straw and up to Solosancho three other trucks, one of 63 and the other two of 48 packages each, which together transported another 39 tons.
Juan Fernández has admitted that the 273 packages, with a combined weight of about 67 tons of straw, do not represent much for the needs of the livestock in the affected area but at least they serve to somewhat alleviate the situation of the victims.
This farmer has acknowledged that upon arriving in Sotalbo he has stayed impressed with the image you’ve seen, with the whole mountain burned, no longer flame, but still fuming a lot of smoke. TOIn addition to making the donation, the farmers have also borne the costs of transporting the straw in the trucks, since although they have contacted the Junta de Castilla y León in case it could assume the cost of the transfer, the regional administration has not agreed thereto.
In this regard, another of the donors, Víctor Asensio, regrets that in the end it is the farmers and ranchers themselves who are the only ones who show their solidarity and who later find numerous administrative obstacles in your work. He has also criticized the subsidies that are awarded to animal associations because part of that money could go to livestock farms affected by the fire.
