The Sixth Talks Festival LAMPA has been held in an unprecedented format Press release

September 6, 2020.

The information was prepared by Laura Zvejniece, public relations manager of the negotiation festival LAMPA

The sixth Talks Festival LAMPA has ended with a hot and dynamic “Politician’s Biscuit”, which gathered visitors in the festival’s studios in person, live on the festival’s website and in 80 viewing places all over Latvia and the world from September 2 to 5. This year, the LAMP shone in an unusual format – not only in Cesis, but also in Riga and Rezekne. 242 events with tens of thousands of spectators show that valuable conversations are still important even when the world is changing.

LAMPA events could be watched online – on the festival website, media and social networks, as well as attended in person at the festival studios in Riga, Cēsis and Rēzekne. The interest of online and face-to-face visitors shows that people appreciate the opportunity to meet like-minded people and hear new ideas in any format, and are happy to take the opportunity to share ideas and find inspiration in what others have said in an unusual way. The changes taking place in the world have contributed to the growth of the festival outside the place and time.

The main theme of the LAMPA 2020 negotiation festival was “together”. “Together, there is a way the world works today: together in confusion, together we learn, together we work, together we look for solutions, how we will live, how we will be. and more than ever. Thanks to the festival supporters and event organizers, together the hosts of the viewing places and every visitor who loves the values of LAMPAS! ” says Ieva Morica, director of the LAMPA Negotiation Festival.

All LAMPAS events were broadcast live on the festival website and will gradually be placed in the archive, where they will be available free of charge to anyone interested. Some events, such as “Politiķu cepiens”, are already available on the LAMPA website and LMT Straume website, but all entries will be available by the end of September.

Politicians’ baking

As usual, the festival ended with one of the boldest and most anticipated events for visitors – “Politicians’ Bake”, which was well attended by the Minister of Education and Science Ilga Šuplinskas (JKP), the Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development Yuri Puce (“For Development / About!”) Oleg Burov (GKR) and Vilni Ķirsi (V). Politicians were baked by Rūdolfs Kugrēns, Anete Konste, Edgars Bāliņš and actor Jānis Kronis. Fire and spices were given to Cepiena by its manager Jānis Skutelis.

Teaching to laugh at yourself and let others do it requires thorough daring, but with humor to hit the right places – a sharp mind and great nausea. Politicians did not owe the bakers accurate answers and jokes. For example, Oleg Burov surprised everyone by showing his four watches, Ilga Šuplinska explained why she wore a neck strap, while Vilnis Ķirsis and Juris Pūce pulled each other on the tooth, remembering the school years.

About the Negotiation Festival LAMPA

The “Politicians’ Disco” also received a great response, in which six politicians shared their musical tastes, standing at the DJ stand and having a good party. Among them were former Presidents of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freiberga and Valdis Zatlers.

The festival program consisted of public administration institutions, non-governmental organizations, entrepreneurs, universities, municipalities, foreign embassies and organizations, as well as active individuals who have something to say and who are ready to listen, engage in valuable exchanges, sharpen their minds and broaden their horizons by learning unusual but useful skills and ideas with the phrase “together”.

The themes and formats of the festival events have remained broadly and appealing, confirming that LAMPA is a festival for everyone – Latvian, Russian and English speakers, young people and seniors, philosophers and practitioners. In order to make the content of LAMPAS accessible to deaf and hard of hearing visitors to the festival, sign language translation was provided for some events, and real-time text transcription was provided for the technology company “Tilde”.

In addition to global and seemingly inexhaustible topics of conversation (democracy, values, liberalism, nationalism, etc.), there was also an opportunity to get practical recommendations for a better everyday life. The school of the future, non-formal education, lifelong growth, culture and the arts, mental and physical health, economics and politics, environment and society, technology – all in discussions, talks, workshops and lectures, as well as in shows, shows, participatory games and dates, in different formats in one festival covered almost all the issues relevant to modern society, while not forgetting about ease, humor and entertainment.

The festival team consists of the Foundation for Open Society DOTS, Swedbank Latvia, Cēsis Municipality, communication management agency “Deep White”, advertising agency “Armadillo” and the British Council representative office in Latvia. The festival is also supported by the State Cultural Capital Foundation, the Open Society Foundations, the European Cultural Foundation, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Splendid Palace Cinema, the National Library of Latvia, as well as Latvijas Finieris, Enefit, DPD Latvija and the Latvian State. forests “. The live broadcast of the festival is provided by LMT Straume and Telia Latvija.
