The situation in Lower Franconia on Monday evening

There have been 46 326 (+120) confirmed corona cases in Bavaria since the beginning of the crisis (as of Monday), 2382 people died from the corona virus. For Lower Franconia, the Robert Koch Institute reports 3405 infected (+1) and 184 fatalities. Where there are confirmed cases and what you need to know.

For weeks now, the editorial team has published the current total number of corona infections in Lower Franconia. Fortunately, most of those affected have now recovered. Therefore, we are now concentrating on a more meaningful value: the so-called seven-day incidence. This is the number of new infections per seven hundred days in a certain district or an independent city per 100,000 inhabitants.

Nationwide applies: If this value is over 50, the health authorities must react and take measures to contain the virus in the affected area – also in the form of local restrictions. Our source remains the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in Berlin. The total number of infections can still be found here updated daily. Bavaria has meanwhile tightened its limit and reduced it to 35 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days in a city or district, as Chancellor Florian Herrmann (CSU) said this week.

Rhön-Grabfeld district remains at the top

Most of the new infections in Lower Franconia per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days are in the Rhön-Grabfeld district with an incidence of unchanged 5.0 (as of Monday). The counties of Schweinfurt followed with 3.5 and Würzburg with 3.1. The incidence is 2.9 in Bad Kissingen, 1.7 in Aschaffenburg, 2.8 in Aschaffenburg and 1.9 in Schweinfurt. The districts of Miltenberg and Main-Spessart have both had 0.8 newly infected people per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days, the district of Kitzingen 1.1. According to the RKI, there have been no new infections in the city of Würzburg and in the Hassberge in the past seven days.

According to figures from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), 3405 (+1) people have been infected with the virus in Lower Franconia since the beginning of the Corona crisis (as of Monday, May 25). The most infected people in the region are still at 874 (+0) in the city and district of Würzburg. 635 (+0) cases have been confirmed for the city and district of Aschaffenburg, 666 (+1) for the city and district of Schweinfurt, 289 (+0) for the districts of Miltenberg, 155 (+0), Haßberge 155, and Main-Spessart 151 (+0) , Kitzingen 189 (+0), Rhön-Grabfeld 192 (+0) and Bad Kissingen 254 (+0).

In the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg, the number of reported infections is 396 (+0). 10 people died there as a result of the coronavirus. For the Main-Tauber district, the seven-day incidence is currently 2.3.

47 corona sufferers in the hospital

According to the government of Lower Franconia, 47 people are currently in hospital treatment, 13 of them in intensive care. 318 people who had contact with a corona infected person are in quarantine (as of Monday, May 25).

According to the RKI, a total of 184 (+0) people in Lower Franconia have died as a result of a coronavirus infection: 58 in the city and district of Würzburg, 38 in the city and district of Aschaffenburg, 43 in the city and district of Schweinfurt, 5 in the district of Miltenberg, 6 in District of Haßberge, 6 in the district of Main-Spessart, 3 in the district of Kitzingen, 6 in the district of Rhön-Grabfeld, 19 in the district of Bad Kissingen.

The RKI figures differ from those of the government of Lower Franconia due to the different reporting times. In order to avoid confusion, this editorial office uses the numbers of the RKI.

The map with the confirmed Corona cases in Lower Franconia and in the Main-Tauber district is continuously updated:

Throughout Bavaria, the RKI counted 46,326 (+120) infected on Monday, including around 41,800 (+200) recovered and 2,382 (+5) deaths.

178,570 (+289) corona cases from all over Germany were reported to the RKI and 8,257 (+10) deaths related to Covid-19 diseases. The RKI estimates that 161 200 (+800) people have already recovered.

Restaurants, daycare centers, homes: what is allowed in Bavaria from Monday

As of today, there will be further loosening of the corona measures in Bavaria: restaurants can now open their interiors again. But new rules apply not only to gastronomy, also to kindergartens and old people’s homes. What is allowed in the Free State from Monday and what is not – we give an overview.

Interactive map: occupancy of the intensive care units in Lower Franconia

Just like the new infections, the number of Covid 19 intensive care patients has dropped significantly in recent weeks. Nevertheless, there are bottlenecks in the intensive care units in three clinics in the region. How can that be? Since the beginning of April, hospitals have had to report how many beds are occupied every day (Here go to the interactive map). But the actual capacity is even more important because ten free beds do not automatically mean ten free places for Corona intensive care patients. Why it is like that, find out here.

Does the cultural state of Bavaria let its artists down?

Just last week, Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) announced that the rescue package for artists and cultural institutions would be increased. But the aid program is starting up slowly, reports Ralf Duggen from the umbrella organization of independent Würzburg cultural organizations. Some artists would fall through the bureaucracy grid, others would still wait for their application to be approved. Read here how difficult the past week has been for singers, saxophonists and other creative professionals.

Irritation: Some innkeepers also asked the addresses of the guests.

One thing is clear: anyone who visits a restaurant or a beer garden has to sign on a list. There were obviously confusions last week, some restaurants accidentally misrepresented the wrong lists. The guests then had to reveal more about themselves than necessary. And that’s not the only problem with the lists …

Beer gardens: Franconian host sets up “Hubert” sidekick

But there is also entertaining news in the Corona period: Lower Franconian innkeepers reacted humorously to statements by the Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, Hubert Aiwanger. After he explained the confusing rules of distance in beer gardens, there is now a “Hubert” sideboard in Marktheidenfeld, for example. And a composer from Mainstockheim (district of Kitzingen) even dedicated a piece to Aiwanger’s speech. You can hear it here.
