However, the researchers managed to read all the month names on the 19-year calendar behind the mechanism. Scientists suggested that the mechanism might somehow be linked to Archimedes, after a study found this language written on the device. Inscriptions showed that it was produced in Siracusa, where Archimedes lived.
However, Archimedes was killed in 212 BC, while the ship carrying the device is believed to have sunk between 85 and 60 BC.
