According to the Ramadan calendar, the number of days of Ramadan this year will be 30 days, and its first day will be Monday, March 11, corresponding to Ramadan 1. This day is the shortest day of Ramadan in terms of the number of fasting hours, with the duration of fasting hours being 13 hours and 18 minutes.

As for the last day of the month of Ramadan, it will be Tuesday, April 9, corresponding to the 30th of Ramadan. This day is the longest day of Ramadan in terms of the number of fasting hours, with the duration of the fasting hours being 14 hours and 14 minutes.

The month of Ramadan is the ninth month in the lunar year, and it comes after the month of Shaban, followed by the month of Shawwal, and God Almighty has favored it over the rest of the months of the year. Because it is one of the pillars of Islam, and its fasting is obligatory for every Muslim, and on the authority of him the Prophet – may God bless him and grant him peace – said: (Islam is built on five things: bearing witness that there is no god but God, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger, establishing prayer, paying zakat, and performing Hajj to the House ،، And fasting Ramadan).

The Hijri calendar system is based on the lunar month, which represents the period of time it takes for the moon to make a complete revolution around the Earth. The Hijri months are: 1 Muharram – 2 Safar – 3 Rabi’ al-Awwal – 4 Rabi’ al-Akhir – 5 Jumada al-Awwal – 6 Jumada al-Akhir – 7 Rajab – 8 Shaban – 9 Ramadan – 10 Shawwal – 11 Dhu al-Qa’dah – 12 Dhu al-Hijjah.

The Hijri, lunar, or Islamic calendar is a calendar that depends on the cycle of the moon to determine the months. Some Arab countries, such as Saudi Arabia, take it as the official calendar of the state. It was established by Caliph Omar bin Al-Khattab and made the migration of the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, from Mecca to Medina on the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal (September 24th of the year 622 AD) as a reference to the first year in it, and this is the reason for calling it the Hijri calendar.
