One week ago, the first case of influenza was detected in Moldova in a 17-year-old boy from Soroca.
Stefan Gheorghita, the head of the Surveillance and Control Section for Influenza and Viral Respiratory Infections within ANSP, says that in the future we will register even more cases of influenza, as people circulate a lot.
“We did not have the flu in the 2020-2021 season and very few cases were registered in the European region. This is explained by the fact that the circulation of influenza viruses was not so intense in the European region. The measures, which were applied during the pandemic period, were much harsher than the measures applied in the case of seasonal flu. Also, part of the population at high risk of disease has been vaccinated. People, some protect themselves, some don’t.
