JAKARTA – Tara Surya consists of various celestial bodies, and the largest is the Sun. Mentioned that the Sun has a diameter of more than 1.3 million kilometers or approximately 109 times the diameter of the Earth.
The universe is illuminated by the Sun, including its light reaching the Earth. The rotation of the Earth or rotation causes some parts to be exposed to sunlight and some are not, creating day and night. The movement of the Earth around the sun causes the seasons to change.
As Okezone has summarized, this has far been explained in the holy book of the Qur’an. As revealed in Surah Fussilat Verse 37. Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala says which means:
And from his at night, the day, the sun, and the moon, do not prostrate to the sun, nor for the moon, and they will find it for the sake of God.
“And some of the signs of His greatness are the night, the day, the sun, and the moon. Do not prostrate to the sun and not to the moon, but prostrate to God who created them, if you only worship Him.” (QS. Fussilat: 37)
The sun has a function in life. One of them is related to photosynthesis, which is the process of plants processing food, where plants need sunlight for the process.
Scientifically, it is stated that light energy will be absorbed by leaf green substances or chlorophyll. Chlorophyll along with water and mineral content from the soil, all elements are processed to produce energy and oxygen.
Living green plants ultimately support the food chain for the survival of living things on Earth. The function of the sun as a source of energy and the food chain forms a natural order that supports human life.
Not only plants and humans, animals also need sunlight to find or consume during the day. Some animals are also active at night to hunt their prey.
The regularity of day and night is a gift to all the inhabitants of the Earth and this has been written in the Qur’an.
He created the heavens and the earth with the right to the night on the day, and the day will be formed on the night and the sun and the sins of God
“He created the heavens and the earth with the right (purpose). He covers the night over the day and covers the day over the night and subjugates the sun and the moon. Each goes according to its appointed time. Remember He is the Mighty, the Forgiving.” (QS. Az-Zumar: 5)
