The San Diego Zoo Safari Park, originally known as the “Wild Animal Park” opened to the public on May 10, 1972 and was conceived to be the “Zoo of the Future”. This approach forever changed the way zoos looked. During the 50th anniversary celebrations yesterday, a boy, Ethan Kemerling, and his parents were greeted by Lisa Peterson, executive director of the Safari Park. Since Ethan was the 50th guest to enter the Safari Park, he was presented with a lifetime membership card to the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance.
