A strong gale in Attica was enough to swell the Ilissos and endanger the lives of a group of teenagers who were cycling on the river.
The video posted on Facebook by Forecast Weather Greece shows the children stranded at the edge of the river. The intervention of the Fire Department was immediate and by throwing down a ladder, the children were freed without any surprises.
“Near tragedy on the Ilissos river in Attica this afternoon. A group of children while cycling in the river due to the sudden rainfall caused the river to swell and suddenly the children were stranded on the edge of the river and they were saved by Agios since they were not swept away by the water. Also, the intervention of the fire department was immediate,” the publication states.
