Sergio Ramos ended his career at Real Madrid at the end of the 2020/2021 season. Next season, Sergio Ramos will defend a new club.
Sergio Ramos stated that he actually did not want to leave Los Blancos.
“I never wanted to leave Real Madrid. I always wanted to continue my career here,” said Sergio Ramos, quoted from Brand.
The offer of a contract extension came since the beginning of this season but then the Covid-19 situation made the talks delayed until the last half of this season’s competition.

“In recent months, the club applied for a one-year contract with a pay cut. Money has never been an issue for me. The president already knows that I have always insisted that this talk is not about money.”
“The problem is about the contract year. They offered one year whereas I wanted two years on the grounds that conditions would be more stable for my family,” said Sergio Ramos.
When Sergio Ramos finally softened and agreed to accept the offer of a one-year contract, it turned out that the offer was considered expired by Madrid.
“In the last conversation, I said that I accept [kontrak setahun] and they [direksi Madrid] said even though I had agreed to the last offer, it had an expiration date and I never heard of it.”
“We were surprised because the offer had an expiration date without us knowing. No one gave us an ultimatum,” said the former Sevilla player.
Despite having to leave Real Madrid in unpleasant conditions, Sergio Ramos refuses to blame Florentino Perez.
