SINGAPORE – Vietnamese media, The Thao 247, highlights the style of play Indonesian National team while wading AFF Cup 2020. The media also claimed that the way Evan Dimas et al played was similar to the Vietnam national team.
This was conveyed after the Indonesian national team managed to hold onto a 1-1 draw with hosts Singapore in the first leg of the 2020 AFF Cup semifinals on December 22, 2021. The Thao 247 realized that there were many good scenarios created by the Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, in that match.
“It is clear how Garuda chose a style of play that has many similarities to Vietnam Tel after what was shown. Currently, Indonesia is very strong under the guidance of coach Shin Tae-yong,” wrote the media, Saturday (12/25/2021).
The media said that one thing that was similar in the style of play between the two teams was the strategy that used a 5-3-2 formation. By relying on this formation, they always control the field from the back to the middle.

This has also been seen since the Garuda squad drew Vietnam 0-0 in the Group B phase. At that time, the Vietnamese players were frustrated with the three parallel defenders formed by Fachrudin Aryanto, Alfeandra Dewangga, and Rizky Ridho.
“The (troops) of Komodo dragons prioritize certainty at the back. This is identical to the philosophy of coach Park Hang Seo from Vietnam,” continued the media.
