The Russians failed to take Kyiv for three reasons

The occupiers were hoping for an “easy ride” – that was their fatal mistake, Blackburn says.

The Russian invaders failed capture Kyiv for three reasons: because of problems with logistics, command and underestimation of Ukrainians.

This opinion was expressed in an interviewTelegraphUS Special Forces veteran Perry Blackburn.

“They really thought that it would be an easy walk for them and they would capture Kyiv without too much trouble. And this was their fatal mistake. The resistance of the Ukrainian defenders was much stronger than they expected,” he explained.

Blackburn noted that enemy tactics on the eastern front had changed.

“Now in the east, we see that they have changed tactics: they have accumulated a lot of strength and are advancing slowly, trying to push right in the front in places. They have no flexibility, there are problems with logistics, so they cannot attack quickly. Ukraine should use their weaknesses,” – emphasized the ex-special forces.

According to him, the “second army of the world”, which is considered to be Russian, is in a deplorable state.

“They are still using World War II tactics… The Ukrainians are skillfully maneuvering and using non-trivial tactics. While the enemy is trying to fight according to the old Soviet patterns… Putin will not defeat Ukraine,” Blackburn concluded.

As UNIAN previously reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is convinced that Ukrainian defenders managed to defend Kyiv. According to him, this is not yet the final victory of Ukraine.

At the same time, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko did not rule out that the occupiers might try again to “capture Kyiv in two days”.

Recall, according to the city authorities, in Kyiv damaged since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion 208 residential buildings, 46 schools, 29 kindergartens and 1 orphanage. 13 administrative buildings, 2 sports facilities, 5 social facilities, 17 healthcare facilities, 10 cultural facilities, and 48 transport infrastructure facilities were also damaged.
