Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto scheduled to attend a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission I DPR RI, Wednesday (2/6). This was also revealed by the Spokesperson for the Minister of Defense and Inter-Institutional Relations, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak.
“The Minister of Defense is scheduled to attend the RDP on the 2nd, together with the TNI Commander,” Dahnil said in his statement yesterday.
The meeting between Commission I and the Ministry of Defense was held on Monday (31/5). In the meeting, Prabowo was represented by Deputy Minister of Defense (Wamenhan) M Herindra.
The Ministry of Defense is facing a tumultuous plan for a ‘jumbo’ loan of IDR 1.7 quadrillion as stated in the Draft Presidential Regulation on the Purchase of Defense and Security Equipment Equipment (Alpalhankam).
The document with a budget for the purchase of defense equipment for the 2020-2024 timeframe of US$ 124,995,000,000 or equivalent to Rp. 1.7 quadrillion was spread to the public. In the document, it is explained that the fulfillment will use a loan system abroad with a payment range of up to 2044.
Even so, the Ministry of Defense refused. Prabowo’s subordinates argued that the currently leaked document was a draft and had not yet entered the final stage.
In fact, Dahnil said that the leaking of the draft presidential regulation was a form of envy in politics, or political jealousy.
Dahnil said that his party would soon find the person who leaked the draft defense system budget. He confirmed that the individual had political motives against Prabowo.
