The Role and Mission of the Sovereign Affairs and Local Authorities Department in the Legal Support Division

The team
Within the legal support department, you will join the sovereign affairs and local authorities department, made up of a team of ten people, including the head of department and her assistant. The lawyers of this team support local authorities and public and private organizations in the sectors of the police, justice, public finances, national education, etc. They are the privileged interlocutors of the ministries concerned (interior, justice, defence, economy, national education, etc.) and regularly prepare opinions on draft texts affecting public freedoms (law, decree, order).

Your role
You will participate in the development of the legal doctrine of the CNIL as well as in advising and supporting public and private actors. You will also contribute to the influence of the CNIL abroad and to the transmission of the “computing and freedoms” culture to different actors.

Your missions

• you will investigate requests for opinions sent to the CNIL (requests for opinions on bills or regulatory texts);
• you will contribute to the drafting of “soft law” (guidelines, recommendations, etc.);
• you will inform and advise users and those responsible for processing personal data within the framework of the CNIL’s Support Charter;
• you will contribute to communication actions (supply of the website, public interventions to raise awareness of the law, responses to the media, etc.);
• you will develop a network in your sector of activity and participate in the development of a sectoral work program (detection of issues or files requiring a position on the part of the Commission);
• you will organize and take part in working meetings with external actors as well as the various Commission services in the context of the processing of files.
