There is almost no family in the region in which at least one member has not been or is currently abroad.

According to the latest data for the year 2022 of Eurostat, the number of Bulgarians who are officially registered and live in EU countries is 861,054 people. There are the most in Germany – 390,021. They are mostly concentrated in the North Rhine-Westphalia region. This area is one of the symbols of German industry and logically most Bulgarians are concentrated there.

116,843 are the inhabitants of Spain, according to European statistics. However, this number is believed to be far higher.

69,550 live and work in Greece, and 49,205 in Italy. According to Eurostat, there are 47,699 inhabitants in the Netherlands.
