Les Pesquiers was a salt marsh and a fishing area, until 1848 when two of the site’s fishermen caused disagreements by successfully having the fishery sold at auction. They appropriated the entire pond to make it only a salt extraction area.

- Travelers to Las Vegas: Migrating Birds, and in Las Vegas is the famous casino the Flamingo, the pink flamingos found in Pesquiers.
- Company: the salt was sold to the Compagnie des Salins du Midi in 1967, the salt was intended for the chemical industry.
