The richest people in the world 2020. How many Poles are there? [Lista Forbes]

There were 628 people from Europe on the Forbes list of billionaires. Germany can boast the most numerous representation. The list included as many as 136 people from this country. Poland is represented by seven people, among whom Michał Sołowow was ranked the highest.

On the Forbes list of billionaires there were 2,755 people, 660 more than a year ago. The wealth of the richest people in the world was estimated at $ 13.1 trillion, in 2020 the fortune of billionaires was $ 8 trillion.

Among them were 628 billionaires from Europe. For comparison, a year ago it was 511 people. The richest person in Europe is still French Bernard Arnault, president of the luxury goods group LVMH. His fortune is estimated at $ 150 billion. In second place, with assets estimated at USD 77 billion, is the Spaniard Amancio Ortega, the founder of the Inditex clothing holding, which includes, among others, Zara.

Amazon’s founder, Jeff Bezos, is leading the world. His fortune is now estimated at $ 177 billion. Elon Musk (Tesla, SpaceX) came in second: $ 151 billion. The third one is the aforementioned Arnault.

Poles on the Forbes list

Germany is the most numerous among European billionaires. There were 136 people from this country on the global list. Poland is represented by seven people.

Poles’ places on the “Forbes” world list:

727. Michal Solowow – $ 4 billion

Michał Sołowow is the majority shareholder in the Synthos chemical concern listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Its portfolio also includes the manufacturer of Barlinek floors, as well as the manufacturer of tiles and sanitary ceramics Cersanit.

Michał Sołowow is also absorbed in energy and green technologies. “Forbes” previously indicated that the billionaire wants to invest in wind farms in the Baltic Sea and build the first new generation nuclear power plant in Poland. The businessman is a three-time European vice-champion in car rallies. He ended his sports career a few years ago.

831. Jerzy Starak – 3.6 billion dollars

Jerzy Starak is the majority shareholder of Polpharma, which manufactures generic drugs, i.e. cheaper substitutes for original drugs. The businessman is a shareholder of Zakłady Tłuszczowe Kruszwica (brands such as Olej Kujawski or Smakovita margarine).

956. Tomasz Biernacki – $ 3.2 billion

Tomasz Biernacki is the founder of the Dino grocery chain. More than a decade ago, this brand was not widely known, it had 81 outlets in smaller urban centers in central Poland. Currently, however, Dino owns over 1,500 stores.

956. Zygmunt Solorz – $ 3.2 billion

Zygmunt Solorz was also classified in 956th place. One of the richest Poles works in the media industry, but his interests extend much further. The wealth is multiplied, inter alia, by investments in finance, the energy sector and telecommunications. It owns the Plus mobile network. Solorz also controls the Pątnów-Adamów-Konin Power Plant Complex.

1517. Dominika Kulczyk – $ 2.1 billion

Dominika Kulczyk is the daughter of Jan Kulczyk, for many years the richest Pole. Dominika Kulczyk is the largest shareholder of the listed company Polenergia, whose flagship project is the construction of offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea. She is also the president of the board and co-founder of Kulczyk Foundation, which supports infrastructure projects and social investments in developing countries.

2263. Rafał Brzoska – USD 1.3 billion

Rafał Brzoska, the founder and president of InPost, first returned to the national Forbes list after six years, where he was on the 7th position, and now he is on the world’s richest list. Brzoska owns approx. 13 percent. InPost shares. At the end of January this year the company’s shares debuted on the Amsterdam stock exchange.

Zbigniew Juroszek is the head of the Atal Group from Cieszyn, specializing in residential, office, commercial and warehouse construction. The group has been operating since 1990. His company Atal Textil, a wholesaler of fabrics, operates on the clothing market. Zbigniew Juroszek is also the founder of the Star-Typ Sport bookmaking company, headed by his son Mateusz.
