The richest man in the Czech Republic dies in a helicopter crash in Alaska

A helicopter crash in a remote part of Alaska claimed the life of the Czech Republic’s richest man, Petr Kellner. He was one of five people who were killed in the crash.

The helicopter had been chartered by a luxury vacation resort and crashed into a glacier on Saturday night, 50 miles east of Alaska’s largest city of Anchorage. A day later, emergency services found the wreckage and five victims. A sixth occupant was seriously injured and taken to hospital.

The cause of the accident is being investigated. The five victims were two guides, the pilot and two Czech guests. The two had taken a ski tour in the area.

Copiers

So among the victims was Kellner, a 56-year-old businessman with assets estimated by business magazine Forbes at around $ 15 billion. He was initially successful in the sale of copiers and further expanded his assets with his investment fund PPF. It is active worldwide and is located at the Amsterdam Zuidas. Kellner eschewed the publicity, but is known to be an avid skier.

PPF has responded shocked to Kellner’s death in a statement. “It is with deep sorrow that we announce that our founder and owner Petr Kellner was tragically killed in the mountains of Alaska.” Czech Prime Minister Babis also speaks of a tragedy on Twitter.
