The repatriation of deceased Guatemalans begins in San Antonio and this says the Minex

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minex) reported that it will begin this Friday, July 15, the repatriation of Guatemalans who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident in a van in San Antonio, Texas, United States, with the arrival of the remains of the minor Pascual Melvin Guachiac Sipac, 13 years old.

The body of the adolescent, originally from Nahualá, Sololá, will arrive on a commercial flight at the customs of the Export and Import Committee (Combex-Im), at 11:41 am.

After his arrival, he will be received by relatives and by authorities of the Foreign Ministry, added the Minex.

Subsequently, he will be transferred by land to his place of origin as part of actions coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Council for Attention to Migrants of Guatemala (Conamigua).

Similarly, it is expected that on Saturday, July 16, the other two minors who lost their lives in San Antonio will return, they are Juan Wilmer Tulul Tepaz, 14, and Jonny Tziquin Tzoc, 17, both also from Sololá, for which the Minex will inform when the arrival time is certain.

The Foreign Ministry added that it is also working on the repatriation of the rest of the fatalities related to the incident, all adults, who have been identified through fingerprints with the support of the National Registry of Persons (Renap).

He reaffirmed his commitment to continue working so that the repatriation process of the other migrants takes place as soon as possible.

Just last June 27, a trailer with dozens of suffocated people was discovered in San Antonio, Texas, in Bexar County.

After the event, 22 Guatemalan migrants were identified with the support of Renap.

Until last week, forensic authorities had confirmed the death of 53 migrants, among them Mexicans, Guatemalans and Hondurans, who were transported in the truck without ventilation and under high temperatures.
