The reason why today’s cases will be many more.
The escalation of the COVID-19 pandemic in Colombia in August had a pause this Monday in which the country registered a significant decrease in both new cases and deaths due to not uploading all the infection data.
According to the Ministry of Health, Colombia had 8328 cases for the day, the lowest figure for the month behind the 7,129 on the 4th, and 275 deaths, a number similar to those of early August.
“The INS reports that today, August 17, 2,374 cases were stopped uploading to the daily total. This is due to the fact that the territorial health entities did not reach it because, in general, not all laboratories work on holidays,” explained the Institute Nacional de Salud (INS) in a brief message in which he pointed out that these infections “will be reflected tomorrow (Tuesday, August 18).”
This would mean that if the figures are maintained, as has happened during the last 20 days, today 14,000 or 15,000 cases could be reported, depending on.
However, the reality is that Monday’s figures are very encouraging as the number of deaths is lower.
The dead registered yesterday are the lowest in three weeks.
Despite the fact that the full cases were not loaded, yesterday’s figures are encouraging considering that Colombia is on the plateau of the pandemic and the cases could drop at the end of the month.
