The real wage for Czechs will continue to fall. This year and next year

Last year, after taking into account inflation, the average wage rose by 3.5 percent to 34,111 crowns, according to the forecast. Nominal growth was 6.4 percent.

“Apart from the negative impact of the economic recession, the development of the average wage reflects the structure of redundant employees. The departure of lower paid and less qualified workers, which is currently likely to be increasing, is dampening the decline in the average wage, ”said the Ministry of Finance.

According to him, in addition, nominal wage growth should be supported by wage increases in the public sector.

In 2022 and 2023, according to the ministry’s outlook, the average wage should return to growth in real terms. In 2023, according to estimates, the average wage should approach the limit of 37 thousand crowns.
