The queen takes ‘baby steps’ to bring Lilibet, Archie and their parents back into the family, expert says

Tensions have been high between the royal family and the Sussexes since they moved to the United States more than two years ago. However, according to a royal historian, there has been progress regarding Her Majesty’s reconciliation with her.

The Daily Mail reported in July 2022 that a socialite and friend of the royal family, Nicky Haslam, claimed that Queen Elizabeth II was surprised to learn that the Sussexes named their daughter after her nickname.

Haslam spoke on The Third Act podcast and speculated that the Queen was under the impression that her grandson, Prince Harry, and his wife, Meghan Markle, would name their daughter Elizabeth.

SHE WAS SURPRISED

The monarch was reportedly surprised to learn that the couple named their daughter Lilibet, Haslam said. She revealed that the Duke of Sussex reported her grandmother on the phone that they would name her daughter after her:

“I heard he called her up and said, ‘We want to name our daughter after you, Grandma.’ She said, ‘How lovely of you, thank you.'”

Haslam mentioned that although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex received permission, they failed to say what name they would use.

The interior designer also questioned why the couple didn’t name their daughter after Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, and I ask: “Why the hell didn’t they name the baby Doria? That’s the prettiest name ever.”

On the contrary, it is evident that Prince Harry has an unbreakable bond with the Queen. And so, he respectfully asked her permission to name her daughter after her.

But in 2021, the royal correspondent of the BBCJohnny Dymond has alleged that Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, named their daughter after the royal matriarch without first informing her.

In response to the claim, the royal couple opened a legal case against the BBC, stating that the story was “false and defamatory”. The duo’s spokesman revealed that they informed the Queen in advance:

“The Duke spoke to his family prior to the announcement – in fact, his grandmother was the first family member he called. During that conversation, he shared his hope of naming his daughter Lilibet after her.”

The spokesman went on to say that had Her Majesty not given permission, the couple would have avoided using the name.

A SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP

There is no doubt that the prince has always been close to his grandmother. In fact, her father of two once said that he always talked to her about things he couldn’t talk to anyone about. He stated that he and the monarch have a unique relationship by talking about what he likes to her Majesty.

“Her sense of humor and her ability to see the humor in so many different things. We have a really special relationship. We talk about things that she can’t talk about with anyone else, so it’s always a nice peace for her.” revealed the Duke of Sussex.

Before attending the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022, Prince Harry He had the opportunity to meet the Queen over tea for a private gathering before arriving in The Hague for the Invictus Games.

The prince was organizing the tournament in the Netherlands when he told “Today” co-host Hoda Kotb that being with his grandmother was a refreshing experience. “Being with her was great. It was really nice to see her. She’s in great shape.” said i drive it

In addition, his daughter met her namesake for the first time during the sovereign’s Jubilee celebrations. A fountain said a Us Weekly at the time that Prince Harry and Markle visited Her Majesty at Windsor Castle with their two children, Archie and Lilibet:

“Spending time with her great-grandchildren and seeing Lilibet turn 1 brightened her day a bit. She thinks they’re adorable and gave Lili and Archie gifts.”

When the Sussexes stepped down as senior royals in January 2020, their move drove a wedge between them and other members of the royal family. However, Prince Harry has managed to keep his relationship with his grandmother afloat.

That said, historian Tessa Dunlop reportedly revealed on the podcast “Royal Beat“that the monarch is taking ‘baby steps’ to cajole the Duke and Duchess of Sussex into returning as family members with their children Archie and Lilibet.

According to Dunlop, that the family of four attended the Jubilee was a starting point to achieve this. But he also pointed out that that didn’t mean the couple would go back to working as royals:

“Not to go back to The Firm, to the working royal family, but to go back to being part of that loving family, which is the personality that the royals have had for decades.”

When asked what would become of the monarchy once the Queen passed away, royal author Tina Brown said told the New York Times that there would be a “national identity crisis” in England.

He explained that British citizens would no longer know how to be British after being led by Her Majesty for seventy years. Also, when she was asked what would happen to Prince Harry and Markle, Brown said that the prince would want to return home to “serve his country”.

The “Palace Papers” author mentioned that the royal family would find a way to persuade the duke to return to England.

Brown also touched on how he and his wife would navigate the new circumstances if that happened, saying they would find a solution to split their time between the US and the UK.
