A municipal worker saw the accident, administered first aid and called the rescue service. The seriously injured child first came to the Waidhofen hospital in Lower Austria. From there, the rescue helicopter flew it to a clinic in Linz, the police said.
In Linz, the girl was put into artificial deep sleep because of the serious injuries. The mother is being cared for by a crisis intervention team.
