The Puerta de Hierro University Hospital in Majadahonda begins this Wednesday a blood donation marathon that will last two days and joins the special marathon organized by the Community of Madrid from Thursday to Saturday.
This is the XXI Blood Donation Marathon and the first since the pandemic began in March 2020.
For the marathon, the hospital has set up a space in the Blood Bank (Laboratory Building, 2nd floor), which is open to half past eight in the morning and will remain until nine at nightWednesday and Thursday so that any interested person, provided they meet a series of criteria, can become a blood donor.
In gratitude for your contribution, donors will receive refreshments in the cafeteria of the hospitalY there will be a raffle with different prizes. To facilitate accessibility for people who come to the Blood Bank to donate, three parking spaces have been reserved on Calle Joaquín Rodrigo, at the level of the Laboratories building, and the free parking of the hospital for those donors who prefer to use this option.
In addition to these two days marathon, the donation schedule for Friday 21 and Saturday 22, on the occasion of special marathon of the Community of Madrid, it will be from nine in the morning to eight in the evening.
In addition to the general requirements to donate, in case of having passed the covid-19, in accordance with the latest recommendations of the Transfusion Center of the Community of Madrid, it will be possible to donate seven days after diagnosis if the person has passed the disease asymptomatically. and seven days after symptoms disappear if the person has had mild or moderate symptoms.
In the event of severe symptoms or hospital admission, a total of 14 days must elapse, while people who have received the covid vaccine may donate once 48 hours have elapsed from the administration of the dose.
