The ?? project planner ?? have big plans: 02/18/2021, 6:30 a.m.

The district’s service company invited to its headquarters in the district’s own Business Innovation Center (BIC for short) to present itself and its work in more detail. And that was quite a lot that was presented to the press representatives?

Founded in 2012, still under the aegis of the current President of the State Parliament, Birgit Keller, as district chief, it was a still existing, but no longer used company in the district that was reactivated and started its work as a better caretaker service. Incidentally, the famous snow blower was already purchased at that time, which only plowed through the district again last week. By 2014 a company developed that worked more and more in various areas; just like in winter service. Over time, more and more technology was purchased and today the service company has, among other things, three Unimogs that function as implement carriers and are of immense value on their own.

Almost a million euros in sales in 2012 has now grown to 7.5 million annually, the former 70 employees have become 180. These include many high-quality and well-paid jobs, as managing director Gunnar Reuter and operations manager Michael Mohr proudly announce. The year 2015 came and with it the refugee crisis in autumn, which suddenly expanded the business area of the district-owned GmbH and turned the pure service provider into a smart and strategic planner. ?? My project planner ?? District Administrator Matthias Jendricke calls the troop and is visibly proud of what has been achieved. Instead of renting properties to accommodate the newcomers in autumn 2015, like many other districts, the Nordhausen district administrator pursued a different strategy from the start.

?? Why should we rent objects expensive and long-term when we had enough of our own that needed to be developed and that after the decentralized accommodation of the refugees remained in the property of the district and could be used for alternative uses ???, asked Jendricke. And this is where the service company came into play, which, under its experienced managing director Gunnar Reuter, applied for funding and awarded construction services. In his biography, Reuter can refer to both banking and construction skills. He returned to his hometown in 2009, where he found work in the district office and was the managing director of the service company from the start. Another advantage is that the service company, as a recognized property developer, got loans from banks and was able to implement many projects without having to wait for the final political decision.

In the meantime, additional services such as container service, laundry service, glass cleaning and others have been added to the former core business. A technical property management company deals with repair work, tree cadastre, grassland maintenance and grass mowing. A holistic and regionally oriented approach ensures the inclusion of regional providers and dealers and, after all, the company always tries to open up new business areas. Over the years, pure service has become a development and planning agency. The company’s fixed assets are fed between half and sometimes two-thirds from subsidies that were previously acquired.

The biggest challenges in the near future are the renovation of the Albert-Kuntz-Sportpark and the establishment of the Harz witches’ kingdom in Rothesütte. For the second major project, a separate company will be spun off from the service company in the foreseeable future, which in turn is wholly owned by the district.

By integrating the service company, the district administrator can prevent subsidies from flowing out and a building to be built ultimately being paid for multiple times, as happened with the Wiedigsburghalle, which in his opinion was financed three times.

The project ?? Harzer Hexenreich ?? will cost 8.5 million euros, 6.1 million of which are funded by the state. The service company provides the rest through loans. The opening of the new tourist highlight is planned for 2022, with 150,000 – 200,000 visitors annually. The catering area, which will be newly built and resemble a barn, is being promoted by the Ministry of the Environment, for example, which envisions regional and sustainable use here. The landmark, the large observation tower, should also be inaugurated next year. A branch in Sophienhof will be a wildlife observation station that should look like a pile of wood on the outside and is particularly suitable for small visitors such as school classes.

Right in the middle is ?? the service ?? in the 13.7 million euro renovation or new building of the Humboldt Gymnasium, which is to be handed over to its intended use at the beginning of the school year 2021/22. The district is contributing 8.7 million euros here, with the Free State funding 5 million. The design of the school yard alone will take 1.4 million euros. An art project, for which the tender is currently running, is also to be installed at the former fountain. The outdoor sports facility worth 1.5 million euros will be completed in 2022, as will the donor churchyard for 1.25 million euros and the expanded gymnasium for 3.5 million euros.

As a new sub-project, the cafeteria, planned as a multifunctional building, could be added, which is to be harmoniously attached to the city wall on Münzgasse. But this would also require funds from urban development funding and whether or not they are applied for is not at the discretion of the district authority.

The new control center on the Zorgestraße security campus, where the new fire station of the city of Nirdhausen and the northern Thuringia disaster control camp are located, is also in further planning, albeit in a much more specific manner. There, the project planners of the service company imagine a three-story building that houses a breathing protection section on the ground floor, an office wing for fire and disaster control on the first floor and a new central control center for Nordhausen, the Kyffhäuserkreis and later perhaps for all of Northern Thuringia. However, the specific planning will not begin until this year.

In Ellrich, construction work will continue this year at the mainstream school and also in Werna at the? Spiegelsäle Haus ?? the district company is active and secures the roof, gable and facade after the building has returned to the district’s ownership.

New constructions of primary schools in Ilfeld and Klettenberg are being considered and Reuter and Mohr are also thinking about developing the area around the old gasworks in Geseniusstraße into a modern residential complex.

There is still the Albert-Kuntz-Sportpark, where there were delays in the start of construction due to the insolvency of Spielbetriebs GmbH and the club as well as the corona confusion of the past year. But an unresolved fire protection concept also prevented the Wacker fans from watching their old grandstand being torn down last year. That will be made up for in the next few weeks. As soon as the snow has drained and the ground has dried, the excavators move in and dismantle the grandstand. Then things will go quickly. The largely subsidized investment sum is 7.5 million euros and should be enough for a new functional building with a grandstand, a guest grandstand will be built at the north gate and the social building will be comprehensively and energetically refurbished for 700,000 euros.

The entire AKS project had to be rewritten from professional sport to club sport funding after the bankruptcy of the professional department became known at the end of January last year. Training grounds are now also being restored for 300,000 euros. Ultimately, the goal is to redesign the playing field at some point in the foreseeable future (but without turf heating, as was still considered in professional times). An application for funding should be submitted in the summer.

What should then no longer exist is the back straight across from the main grandstand. The Albert-Kuntz-Sportpark could become the first football ground I know where spectators can only watch the action on the lawn on three sides of the field. But until that happens, some snow will flow down the Zorge.
