Microsoft has spoken in detail about what the “Optimized for Xbox Series X” badge means for various projects. The presence of this icon indicates that “the developers either created the game from scratch or completely redesigned the game in order to take full advantage of the unique capabilities of the most productive console.”
Games with the Optimized for Xbox Series X badge can be:
- New games originally developed for the Xbox Series X as Halo Infinite
- Previously released games whose developers have improved their designs using the features of the Xbox Series X, like Gears 5.
Because Microsoft provides developers the opportunity to decide for themselves how to take advantage of the Xbox Series X, different games can see different improvements.
For example, in the Call of the Sea project, you can see ray tracing implemented using DirectX in 4K resolution. DiRT 5 will offer a mode in which the project operates at 120k / s. But the developers of Gears 5 in the version for the Xbox Series X pay attention to fast downloads.
