The Pompidou Center in Paris will close in 2025 for five years, during which the modern art museum will undergo major renovations, the French culture minister announced on Wednesday (May 10th).

The Center Pompidou, named after the French statesman Georges Pompidou, is one of the examples of 20th century postmodernism and high-tech architecture and houses the works of world-famous artists.
More than three million people visited the center last year.
However, over the years the building has fallen into serious disrepair and has faced serious competition from newer Parisian galleries.
Culture Minister Rima Abdul Malak said the renovation would ensure the survival of the Center Pompidou, adding that the museum had welcomed 300 million visitors since it opened in 1977.
The renovation of the museum will cost 262 million euros.
Initially, the center was planned to be renovated from 2023 to 2027 to revive the museum for its 50th anniversary, but plans changed and now the renovation is planned to be completed by 2030.
