the poignant memory of the daughter of the fattest man in the UK, who died at 52

Barry Austen, the fattest man in Britain, dies at 52. He was very popular due to his fame… and his own fame! His eating habits, in fact, conceal record numbers. Barry had gone as far as drinking 12 liters of fizzy drinks a day, ingesting up to 29,000 calories, about a hundred times more than the average man.

Barry Austen was much loved and known around the world. He had in fact participated in the making of a personal documentary, Inside Britain’s fattest man, produced by Sky. Moreover, he had made himself known thanks to the TV series The fattest man in Britain, earning a great notoriety.

Barry Austen’s Price to Pay

The habits described, however, led Barry to very serious consequences. Notoriety didn’t save him from predictable health complications.

In fact, he started suffering from circulatory problems in his legs and had a cyst weighing 11 kilograms. After the implantation of the gastric balloon he had marked improvements, including the loss of 250 kg, but that did not save him from the worst.

A loss that is difficult to digest

As of April 2012, Barry had lost about 130 pounds to marry his then-girlfriend. Today the couple’s daughter, Dannie Nina Louise, mourns the disappearance of his father on social media network.

On his Facebook page you can read: “Completely heartbroken, that’s the only thing I can say about how I feel right now. Rest in paradise. To the great man in my life, my father Barry Grizzly Austin. I loved you just as you were and I loved our relationship. You were the kind of father who was always there despite everything… We had our ups and downs but I can honestly say it made no difference to the love I felt for you. It will be difficult to accept that you are no longer here. Seeing my mother feel so bad, the whole family is simply broken. “

In short, a loss that is difficult to digest.
