The SAS pilot strike has been going on for the tenth day, and it has cost the company approximately 1 to 1.3 billion Swedish crowns (94-122.6 million euros).

Negotiations between the unions and the airline’s management have so far been unsuccessful.

SAS says that the airline has already had to cancel a total of more than 2,500 flights, affecting 270,000 passengers.

In early July, SAS filed an application for protection from creditors in the US court in connection with the airline’s ambitious restructuring plan. The company explains that the pilots’ strike threatens the success of this process and the airline’s viability.

The pilots are objecting to a pay cut demanded by management as part of an ambitious cost-cutting plan that will cut costs by 7.5 billion kroner (about 700 million euros).
