The phenomenon of the discovery of a mountain full of gold, the Congolese people are fighting over

JawaPos.com – Hundreds of villagers in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa, flocked to the small village of Luhihi following the discovery of a mountain that contains the precious metal gold. They came to mine gold illegally after the mountain which consisted of gold deposits was discovered.

Authorities were forced to announce a ban on mining activities after a scorching gold volcano in South Kivu province attracted thousands of diggers to the site. Congolese freelance journalist Ahmad Algobary shared a video on his Twitter account showing villagers digging up the dirt on the mountain.

“A video from the Republic of the Congo documents the biggest shock to some of the country’s villagers, when an entire mountain filled with gold was discovered! They dig up the soil in the gold deposits and bring it to their homes to wash the soil and extract the gold, ”the journalist wrote.

Subsistence mining allows residents to extract minerals with rudimentary equipment. And it has been common throughout the Democratic Republic of the Congo over the years. The area has widespread gold mining in the eastern and northeastern parts of the gold-producing country.

“Miners, traders and members of the Congolese armed forces (FARDC) were asked to leave mining sites in and around Luhihi and all mining activities were suspended until further notice,” a confirmed ruling said.

“The presence of FARDC at the mine site is prohibited under the Congolese mining code, as it has actually contributed to chaos in Luhihi,” the statement said.

The mining hold will allow the authorities to identify the miners and ensure they are properly registered with the mining regulator. “Rules are being implemented to ensure that gold is procured according to Congolese law,” the decree said.

Gold production in Congo is systematically underreported and tons of the precious metal are smuggled into global supply chains through its eastern neighbors. The report was known and reported by the United Nations Expert Group on Congo last year.
