This Saturday, many changes were made on the Foreign Affairs website with regard to “risk areas”, especially for France. Among these modifications, the “Nord region (Nord-Pas-de-Calais) has changed from green to orange for departures and returns.
However, as our colleagues from RTL reminded us, there is no “northern region” in France. The region bordering Belgium has been called “Hauts-de-France” since 2016.
An error that has caused confusion among several Belgian holidaymakers wishing to go on holiday to the north of France: “I regret that the information is not very clear. We have to leave today for Wissant. We are told about Nord-Pas-de-Calais in the orange zone. While Nord-Pas-de-Calais no longer exists, ”one of them wrote to RTL Info.
Pas-de-Calais goes green
This Sunday, Foreign Affairs modified “North region” to indicate this: “Department of the North (Nord-Pas de Calais.” However, the Nord and the Pas-de-Calais are two different departments.
Contacted by our colleagues, the FPS Foreign Affairs clarified things: the Nord department is placed in the orange zone while the Pas-de-Calais is in the green zone.
As a reminder, the return of an orange zone implies a “recommended quarantine and screening”.
