Advisers and officials gathered after work on April 16 last year to mark the resignation of John Slak, director of communications for Johnson, as well as the prime minister’s personal photographer, the newspaper said.
According to eyewitnesses, alcohol was consumed and the guests danced, but the cheer continued until late in the evening.
The events started separately, but later their participants merged. A total of about 30 people took part in both events.
Johnson was not at Downing Street’s residence that day, the newspaper quoted the prime minister’s spokesman as saying. Johnson was at the prime minister’s official rural residence in Checkers.
The new allegations are being made at a time when there are demands in British society and among politicians, including Johnson’s Tory, for Johnson to step down as prime minister because he and his office have repeatedly violated the country’s strict house rules.
