Usa, the migrant center of horrors: “forced hysterectomies on women”

WILMINGTON (Delaware) – Disastrous hygienic conditions, no regard for the anti Covid rules, health care provided reluctantly and late: but above all an unmotivated and very high number of hysterectomies, uterus removal, to the detriment of inmates without particular health problems. This is the atrocious denunciation of Dawn Wooten, an African American nurse who for three years worked at the Irwin County Detention Center, in Ocilla, Georgia. A private detention center in Irwin County where the infamous Ice, the American anti-migrant police, has held at least 4,680 illegal immigrants. “A kind of experimental concentration camp” defined the former nurse in the report filed with the help of some NGOs: Project South Georgia Detention Watch, Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights and South Georgia Immigrant Support Network. A story also reported by the web magazine The Intercept, which verified the words of the nurse – first demoted for having reported the situation to her superiors and then fired, collecting the testimony of another former health worker of that center, together with those of at least four inmates.

To impose the operation on women often unaware of what was happening to them, often due to the linguistic barrier, a particular gynecologist, even nicknamed by the nurses: “the collector of uteri”. As if that were not enough, no one in the structure bothered to follow the anti Covid procedures. Indeed, if someone reported symptoms he was ignored, and in fact there is no case within it: «False. Many have fallen ill and some have even died. They just haven’t been counted, ”Wooten insists.

On the other hand, in America preparing for the vote, the situation of migrants is not improving. An appeals court has just confirmed the green light for the Trump administration to expel at least 300,000 people from El Salvador, Haiti, Nicaragua and Sudan thanks to a “temporary protection status” for humanitarian or environmental reasons: now, in short, they will be expelled .. Yet, despite President Trump’s aggressive policies towards illegal immigrants, the Latin electorate seems less determined to vote for Joe Biden than when they voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016. As long as they go to the polls, given that abstention is very high among their ranks, their vote could be decisive in this election.

According to a study by the Pew Research Center, Latinos will make up 13 per cent of potential voters, surpassing African Americans for the first time. Well, the president seems to be getting back in favor of Latinos especially in Florida, thanks to his commercials where he gives Biden a socialist, who is warming up the Cubans. In the poised state, crucial to winning the elections, the two opponents are head to head, with 48 percent.
