The 37-year-old woman, who filed a complaint against the parish priest Visarion Alexa, parish priest of the Church “Pogorârea Sfântului Duh” – Military (Bucharest), for sexual assault wore special equipment for recording the conversation with her father, judicial sources told G4Media .ro.
Thus, the police were able to confirm the first allegations made by the parishioner, but not accompanied by eloquent evidence. The equipment was for audio recording only, not video, according to sources.
During that discussion, the priest made indecent gestures, and so the police decided to detain him for 24 hours. The measure adopted after the analysis of the registration was not flagrant.
The two have been friends for several months, the same sources confirmed, as Visarion’s lawyer Alexa also publicly stated. As part of the investigation, the priest’s phone will also be searched to analyze previous conversations between him and the alleged victim.
Recall that Saturday evening the 6th district court decided to put Visarion Alexa under preventive control for 60 days. The decision is not final, so the priest challenged it. The Romanian Orthodox Church has instead declared, through its spokesman, that it has launched an independent investigation against the parish priest, which will be suspended until its completion.
