The outbreak that worries – Chronicle

The outbreak at the Alpe Adria scout hostel in Prosecco, on the Trieste karst. The proximity to a disabled center is of concern

There are 7 Nepalese and 2 Bengali migrants positive for Covid-19 who are in fiduciary isolation in the “Alpe Adria” Scout Hostel in Prosecco, near Trieste.

The migrants, all asymptomatic, were part of a single group that arrived at the facility on 11 August and yesterday, after the tamponade carried out on both the guests and the operators, the response arrived. The others are all negative.

Positive migrants stay in tents separate from the rest of the district, which houses about 110 foreign people in fiduciary isolation. The tamponade inside the structures, explains Don Sandro Amodeo, director of the Caritas of Trieste that manages the hostel, is done on a one-off basis and not in all the structures.

New foreigners arrive every day at the Prosecco hostel: are guests’ exits usually checked? The prefect, Valerio Valenti, assures that the structure is quiet, that there have been no cases of expulsion and that there is no need to make it a “red zone”. “There is a reinforced defense of the police – he says – goes through a check several times a day, but it is not there 24 hours a day”.

From “La Fonte”, a neighboring family home that hosts disabled people and foreign minors, however, different news arrives. “At the bus stop nearby – they say – there is a bustle of foreign people who do not come from our center. We are very worried”. The report also includes an interview with Fr Sandro Amodeo, president of Caritas of Trieste.
