Flavia Campeis She is 37 years old, she is a communicator in various media outlets in Santa Fe and since December she has been fighting against the inhumane treatment of the prepaid company Medifewhich dilates and delays the medical authorizations to treat the breast cancer that she was diagnosed with.

Although the journalist from FM Poriajhú – from the town of Capitán Bermúdez in Santa Fe, which is part of the Argentine Forum of Community Radios – He obtained the authorizations he expected, the situation was not easy. “I began to have to do a lot of highly complex studies and even having the diagnosis of breast cancer, the only thing Medifé did was delay and extend the authorizations until the last minute”told in dialogue with Free area.

Over the course of these three months, her cancer progressed and metastasized to her ribs and sternum.

For everything, even in oncological diseases and others that are advancing so quickly, they always have medical records and other papers uploaded online or by app. From then on, those who answer you are people in the call center who, when you call, all they tell you is ‘we are going to settle your claim’”, he added.

Last Friday Campeis barricaded himself for several hours in the offices that the prepaid company has in Rosario in order to obtain the authorizations he needed. “This is not a situation that happened with me. I have seen many people enter with similar situations, who had to start chemotherapy the next day and that the day before Medifé had not authorized the orders, with what that implies for treatments of this style”, he denounced.

Flavia’s case gained notoriety when she posted a photo on Twitter while waiting for her claim to be dealt with. The image of the girl lying next to a dog with the phrase “I slept peacefully because Medifé takes care of you” generated the reaction of the former driver of the Informative FARCO. “I felt that since December 16, when I was diagnosed with cancer, the only thing I couldn’t do was sleep peacefully because of Medifé. I cried more because of everything that Medifé complicated my life than because of the diagnosis. Everything I had to go through to get my treatment authorized was really more difficult than having received the news“, he pointed.

Finally, he said that he will continue to denounce the mistreatment of the company even if he has obtained the authorizations. “I saw many people enter who received ill-treatment and delays”, he added.

Every day that Medifé expanded my health, it complicated my health and spread the cancer in my body (…) we agree that dead before you live because the medicines that I am going to start treating myself today cost 1,300,000 pesos per month, so they I’m worth dead before I live. With that they play, with that they speculate”, he stressed.

For this reason, the collaborator of The citizen -among other means- opined that “the State has to closely monitor this and not allow abuses”.

This happens because the health system in Argentina is totally diversified and those who can pay and have access, and not even then because they have a half plan, a plan that makes you pay a lot of co-payments; and those who can’t have to wait in long queues at hospitals, until later it starts to work”, he concluded.
