León, Gto.- The federal representative for Guanajuato, Éctor Jaime Ramírez Barba, declared that the federal government is obliged to buy vaccines against Covid-19 from the most advanced laboratories so that they can be applied free of charge in October to Mexicans.
“This Monday you have to give approval to the pharmaceutical laboratories that have been requesting registration for more than a year and a month, these are Pfizer and Moderna,” said the PAN member.
He pointed out that the decision of the Federal Commission for the Protection of Health Risks (Cofepris) to open the sale of vaccines to the market in Mexico is ridiculous, because the federal government has money to make the purchase and apply it for free. as happens in the United States.
“What Cofepris says is ridiculous, the pressure exerted by science is forcing them to now have to approve the vaccines that were requesting registration since last year, there is no reason to open a call, it is the obligation of the Mexican state to go and search the best vaccines for Mexicans, they have the money and they are part of the universal health coverage package in vaccination, we need them to get to work now,” said Ramírez Barba.
Regarding the thousands of Mexicans who live on the border with the United States who are visiting neighboring cities to get the most up-to-date and effective vaccines for free or paying $40, he declared that it is part of the desperation that exists among citizens to have a reinforcement.
He regretted that Mexicans are accepting to be vaccinated with two vaccines that have the original 2019 virus, that are outdated from the new variants and that are not recognized by the WHO as they come from Russia and Cuba.
“They want to vaccinate us with two products that are not recognized by the World Health Organization, it is not possible, the government announced that it has the Abdalá (CUba) and Sputnik (Russia) vaccine, but we are seeking to apply the approved vaccines for the new circulating virus and these are the Moderna and Pfizer brands.”
Regarding the application of the Pfizer vaccine, he pointed out that it has to be done with the infrastructure that the government has used since 2021 and the health dictatorship is put aside.
“In June the vaccines were reviewed, we know that they are the best and Mexico has the infrastructure to apply them, it cannot be that there is a health dictatorship and they want to give us vaccines that do not work, in the United States people can be vaccinated anywhere in free, only in some places it is paid, but it is free, in addition to the fact that the tests are also free because there has already begun to be a greater number of cases, but fortunately they have less severity when getting sick and less mortality,” he concluded.
