The number of corona cases is likely to rise to over 300,000 | Inland

The first positive test was on February 27. A man from Loon op Zand in Brabant had been admitted to a hospital in neighboring Tilburg. The Netherlands experienced its first wave in March and April. Since the beginning of September, the number of corona cases has been rising again, and much faster than before. Just over a month ago, on September 23, the 100,000th corona case was reported. Three weeks and a day later, on October 15, the number of corona cases topped 200,000. Less than two weeks later we are on the threshold of 300,000.

The actual number of Dutch people who have contracted the corona virus is probably much higher. In the initial phase of the outbreak, not everyone was tested. Many people have been healed or died without ever being diagnosed with the virus. In the current second wave, not everyone has been able to make an appointment for a test, due to the pressure at the laboratories that process the test sticks and determine whether someone has corona.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam has by far the most corona infections. Since the outbreak began, the virus has been found in more than 27,000 residents of the capital. Rotterdam has more than 20,000 cases, the coronavirus has been diagnosed in almost 15,000 residents in The Hague and the municipality of Utrecht has just under 9,000 cases. This is followed by Tilburg, Eindhoven, Almere, Nijmegen, Breda, Groningen and Zaanstad, each with more than 3000 positively tested people.

There are now 62 municipalities with more than a thousand corona cases. On September 1, at the foot of the second wave, there were six of them.
