This trend has recently been adopted by Banca Comercială Română. The institution announced that it is launching the first ones bank cards environmentally friendly, as part of a broader approach by which the bank aims to sustainably transform its card portfolio.

Therefore, from this month, BCR customers have the opportunity to use an environmentally friendly physical card, made of 85% recycled plastic, if they request a BCR IKEA credit card or a George debit card, the blue version, the more required version of the four available.

Cards change, but not their usefulness

Even if the raw material behind the development of the new cards is different, they retain all the functionalities so far, from the attractive design, access to funds and contactless payments.

Plastic pollution has become one of the most pressing environmental issues in the world, BCR points out, underlining the reason why the institution came to adopt such a decision.

According to the bank’s representatives, the BCR IKEA card is a unique benchmark on the market in terms of flexibility and accessibility of financing services offered to customers, being the first credit card that offers 60 interest-free installments, but also the possibility to obtain it directly in the IKEA store. to purchase the products on the spot through the approved credit line.
