The new St. Louis Aquarium combines immersive visual design and entertainment to welcome its visitors

Analog Way’s Picturall Pro multimedia server, with hard drives of more than 8 TB of performance, powers this immersive design and entertainment environment created by DE-ŹYN Studios in this city of the United States.

Named The Entrance Experience, access to the new St. Louis Aquarium, created by DE- ŹYN Studios, leaves no one indifferent, to the point of becoming the centerpiece of an entertainment and design attraction for all audiences.

The new aquarium and other attractions are located in the center of this city in the state of Missouri (United States) in the National Historic Landmark train shed at St. Louis Union Station Hotel, which opened in 1894 as the largest train terminal and crowded of the nation.

Further, The Entrance Experience recently won an award from the Thematic Entertainment Association (TEA) for “crossing the threshold of entertainment design in new and unexpected ways, blending fantasy and reality through a careful blending of art and technology created by DE-ŹYN Studios.” .

Advanced Led video technology, impactful visual media, an original score and a masterfully executed ride attraction on a virtual train make up this turnkey project that transports guests to the immersive world of the aquarium.

DE-ŹYN Studios, with offices in Orlando, New York, San Francisco and Vancouver, oversaw the design and execution for The Entrance Experience, working directly with LHM in the creative media selection and with the aquarium designer PGAV Destinations in the integration of technology.

The Entrance Experience It is shown in the panels that form the Led screen, with a seamless 2.7 mm pixel pitch and customized by DE-ŹYN Studios, which rise from a window, in the shape of a fish tank, to cover the ceiling of the barrel vault of the room, with a change of direction from side to side to front / back.

“We wanted to create a kind of ‘Fantasy’ ballet in this large hall, with a series of vignettes lasting three to five minutes and combining a score of original music, marine life, water and natural elements in a way very stylized to ‘immerse’ visitors into a world of magic from the moment they arrive at the aquarium, ”explains John Miceli, chief creative officer and founder of DE-ŹYN Studios.

To achieve this, the images float around the wall in the shape of a fish tank above, above and below that huge palette created by the architecture. Whales, dolphins, fish of all kinds, sharks, jellyfish, manta rays, sardines and many other marine creatures show their special movements synchronized with the music score in this space, next to an underwater station that seems 3D to the naked eye.

“At any point where the visitor is in this space there is always endless ‘wow’ to surprise him, whether he sees an entire vignette or only part of one -explains Miceli- or feel how it transforms into a fairly three-dimensional underwater observatory and colorful, and in sync with the score. Everything is carefully and artistically designed to be simple and spectacular. “

To reproduce the high-resolution content of this 14,533,632 pixel visual canvas, the DE-ŹYN Studios team chose Analog Way’s Picturall Pro media server, featuring 8TB performance hard drives and NVME.

“We could handle this customized Led videowall with specific content and high resolution using a single Picturall Pro of very high quality and repeatability,” says Brian Smith, responsible for sales in this area of Analog Way-. The system also has entrance cards, so if the space is rented for an event, external sources can be connected and other content supported ”.

As Miceli adds, “This has been the first time we have worked with Analog Way and we are very happy with the results, as we showed a lot of high resolution content and we did not want anything that was not perfect. Furthermore, the support of the company team was excellent throughout the project ”.
