The innovative transparent display will help with navigation, keeping a safe distance and keeping driving in lanes.

In recent weeks, Mercedes-Benz has been constantly supplying us with small views under the hood of the new generation of the S-Class flagship, which should once again be a crucial step in terms of comfort, safety and technology used in passenger cars.

The carmaker offered us the first look at the sophisticated transparent display (Head-up display / HUD) a few weeks ago. A few hours ago, however, she published a video on her Facebook profile that captures in detail the operation of the innovated transparent display with elements of augmented reality (AR-HUD).
The novelty will offer, for example, a function for maintaining a safe distance, where graphics for maintaining a safe distance are projected behind the bumper of the car in front of you. Another novelty is the function for keeping driving in the lane, where the system can highlight the line on the road on which the car is approaching.

Mercedes also integrated navigation with augmented reality elements into the transparent display, which had previously been displayed on the MBUX infotainment screen. In the video, for example, we can see an arrow helping with the correct passage of the roundabout and finding the correct exit.
In addition, virtual arrows combined with the distance to the next turn will help you find the right turn well in advance. After arriving at the destination, the driver will see an arrow on the transparent display with the destination flag, which we know from most navigations.

With the upcoming premiere of the new S-Class due to be unveiled on September 2, it is becoming increasingly certain that Mercedes will once again continue the tradition of the technological innovator. After all, five screens should be installed in the interior.
The main one, located at the tip of the center console (in the middle of the dashboard), will be the 12.8-inch MBUX infotainment screen. The driver will have a fully digital instrument panel, while other passengers will receive their own display, which in addition to their own content will also offer sharing information from the main screen.
