This is news that should delight iPhone users since it is finally possible to top up your Navigo Pass with these smartphones. This service already available to Android users since November 2019 is finally also available for fans of the Cupertino company.

This service was already available on the Vianavigo application of Île-de-France Mobilités but the RATP application remains the most used by travelers and should thus allow iPhone owners to avoid juggling multiple apps.

As indicated by RATP, “This service is compatible from the iPhone 7 with at least version iOS 13. The iPhone XR, XS and XS Max are not yet compatible but will be soon.” And it is also good to remember that for the moment, iPhones cannot be used as transport tickets, unlike Android smartphones.

Why then are iPhones lagging behind Android devices? Blame it on disagreements between Apple and Valérie Pécresse, the president of the Île-de-France region, who refuses to pay a commission to the apple brand. Technical problems are also a source of this delay, the Parisian public transport NFC protocol being unique and thus requesting certain adjustments from Apple to be iPhone compatible.

You should already know that purchasing tickets with the RATP application on iPhone are not limited to the Navigo Pass. In fact, it is now possible to buy t + tickets, Navigo month, week and day packages (Navigo Jour, Navigo Jeunes Week-end, Antipollution) but also tickets for the OrlyBus and the RoissyBus.

For recharge your Navigo pass with iPhone from the RATP application, just follow the steps below:

As we mentioned earlier, However, it will still be necessary to arm yourself with patience before being able to use your iPhone as a transport ticket. No date has yet been put forward for the arrival of this feature on iPhone.
