BAKU – Team Armenia and Azerbaijan resumed fighting on Friday (16/10), erasing hopes of an end to the three-week war Nagorno-Karabakh.

Secretary of State (Menlu) United States (US) Mike Pompeo called the situation of gunpowder in the region. The worst violence since the 1990s risks causing a humanitarian catastrophe and economic crisis and could drag on Russia and Turkey.

Pompeo criticized Turkey in the conflict for supporting Azerbaijan. He considered the NATO alliance to exacerbate the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, which is internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan but is ruled by ethnic Armenians.

Turkey has increased arms exports to Azerbaijan this year. Russian news agency RIA also reported that the Russian navy was planning to hold military exercises in the Caspian Sea.

There are signs that the ceasefire agreed to last Saturday has failed with the new conflict taking place today. (Also Read: Armenian-Azerbaijan War Increases, Nagorno-Karabakh Volunteers Are Equipped)
