Venezuela’s Minister of Communication, Jorge Rodríguez, denounced this Saturday, June 27, the leader of the political party Voluntad Popular (VP), Leopoldo López, for planning Operation Gideon.
“We have said many times that López has long called for blood to be burned and death. Yesterday the Wall Street Journal published an article in which they say López led the attacks to assassinate Nicolás Maduro, ”Rodríguez said in a speech from the Miraflores Palace.
Rodríguez commented that this plan was also planned against the ANC president, Diosdado Cabello, the Defense Minister, Padrino López, and the president’s wife, Cilia, Flores, among others.
He argued that it is inconceivable that the Spanish ambassador would host the leader of Voluntad Popular in his residence. “López has used the headquarters of the residence of the Spanish ambassador to Venezuela to conspire,” Rodríguez said.
In this regard, Rodríguez invited the Spanish Government to rule on its conformity with the fact that acts of aggression against “a legally constituted government” are planned at its diplomatic headquarters in Caracas.
“Does the Government of Spain agree that these meetings have been held at its headquarters to plan actions against a legitimate State, with the participation of renowned drug traffickers?” asked the sector vice president.
He also recalled that from the diplomatic headquarters, López wrote a letter offending a former president of the Spanish Government, in this case José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero. “The Government of Spain is not going to say anything?”
Rodríguez also denounced that López continues to make video conferences from the Spanish diplomatic house in Caracas, planning destabilizing actions against Venezuela, something that, he considered, should be inadmissible for the authorities of that country.
“The only thing that Leopoldo López has come up with has been to be the Mayor of Chacao, it is the only thing that he has managed to climb, but to the upper echelons of power to which he aspires, impossible it is only by violent means,” he emphasized.
The official noted that humanitarian aid, which was scheduled to enter in February 2018, was an excuse “to perpetrate a violent armed incursion” from the western border with Colombia.
“We have said that Juan Guaidó is nothing more than an instrument, a puppet, one of the most far-right factors of the Trump administration, a puppet of Leopoldo López that pursues two purposes: to steal all the money that can be stolen and to take power by violent means ”, he pointed out.
