She became a tour guide, was an active member of the Jewish community and the founder of a children’s theater.

Vida Skalská-Neuwirthová was born in 1965. She got the role of Princess Bosana when she was only twenty-one years old. The role of Bosana became so essential for her that she remained forever connected with her even outside the film world.

“Once I went to Prague Castle with tourists and the security guard told me during the inspection: Come to the front, the princesses have priority,” said Vida.

But Vida decided to leave the world of film. In order not to leave completely, she started doing puppet theater. She worked in the Sluníčko puppet theater, where her enthusiasm for working with children only flourished.

It was her engagement in the Sluníčko puppet theater that fully developed her passion for working with children. Over time, she founded her own children’s theater Feigele, which performed biblical stories, fairy tales by Jewish authors and legends from the Prague ghetto.

Cruel fate

The issue of the Holocaust became a visible topic. Coming from a Jewish family, she took it upon herself to spread awareness and truth about this horrific time period of World War II.

The reason was primarily the experiences of several members of her family who were directly affected by the Holocaust. They went through concentration camps and experienced the greatest suffering of World War II first hand.

After the revolution, Vida began working as a guide in the Terezín concentration camp and further spread awareness about the Holocaust. Her activity was very beneficial after the fall of the Iron Curtain. After the revolution, waves of racism and xenophobia began to spread rapidly. This is what motivated Vida to educate people about the Holocaust.

Vida Skalská-Neuwirthová, now sixty-three years old, became a tour guide and also an active member of the Jewish community. However, the role that has fulfilled her the most is her role as a grandmother.

He still has work to do. When she is not babysitting her grandchildren, she enjoys golfing. Vidin’s younger son, a golf coach, brought her to this. “My son offered to train me. And so I started. He’s a good coach, he praises nicely, and that’s a good thing! My husband also plays golf, so he’s happy that I started it,” said Vida.
