The murder case of Nasrudin Zulkarnaen 12 years ago, Antasari reveals the role of former caddy Rani Juliani page all

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – On Sunday (15/3/2009) or exactly 12 years ago, the Director of PT Putra Rajawali Bantaran Nasrudin Zulkarnaen died after being shot the day before.

Nasrudin was shot by several people in the left temple after playing golf in Tangerang, Banten, Saturday (14/3/2009).

Former Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at that time, Antasari Azhar, was appointed as one of the suspects and must undergo trial.

In the trial, one name appeared, Rani Juliani. His name appeared when the public prosecutor read out the indictment of the case with Antasari.

Rani is an ex shopping cart golf which was later cited as Antasari’s motive for masterminding Nasrudin’s murder.

In fact, during the trial, the murder case was even linked to a love triangle following the disclosure of the status of Rani, who was the third wife of the late Nasrudin.

Meeting in the hotel room

Reported Kompas.com On October 8, 2009, the prosecutor read out a seven-page indictment containing the chronology of Antasari’s meeting with Rani in room 803 of the Grand Mahakam Hotel, Jakarta.

The purpose of the meeting, according to the prosecutor, was to discuss Antasari’s membership in Modern Golf, Tangerang.

On his way home, Antasari gave Rani 300 US dollars. He, explained by the prosecutor, then hugged Rani and asked for intercourse.

However, Rani refused.

“‘Next time sir.’ It did not stop there, the defendant then kissed the left and right cheeks,” said the prosecutor during the reading of the indictment.

Rani, continued by the prosecutor, then complained about the meeting to Nasrudin.

Nasrudin then asked Rani to return to meet Antasari, hoping to become his liaison with the KPK chairman in order to become the BUMN Director.

“After being contacted, the defendant agreed to meet at the same place. Next, by using a taxi, Rani and Nasrudin headed to the Grand Mahakam Hotel. When going to the room, the victim was asked to activate the cellphone so that he could hear the conversation,” explained the prosecutor.

When meeting, Rani again asked Antasari to become a member of Modern Golf and asked about the possibility of his ‘relative’ (Nasrudin) becoming the Director of BUMN.

During the conversation, said the prosecutor, Antasari began to persuade Rani, starting from asking for a massage.

“While being massaged, the defendant turned around and kissed the cheek, lips, unbuttoned his shirt and lowered his left bra while saying ‘he said you want the next meeting’,” said the prosecutor.

Rani, turning off her cell phone so that Nasrudin could not hear the conversation, again refused the request. However, according to the prosecutor, Antasari still forced Rani to serve him.

Before returning home, Antasari gave Rani 500 US dollars.

When he was about to leave the room, Nasrudin suddenly entered and was angry.

“‘Why did you meet my wife here and what did you do to my wife?’ Then (Nasrudin) slapped Rani on the cheek, “said the prosecutor.

Hearing the anger of the victim, said the prosecutor, Antasari replied: “No sir, I still want to improve the country. Then embrace and talk. Yes, we are a team,” the prosecutor continued.

Hearing the indictment, Antasari’s lawyer, Juniver Girsang, confirmed that his client met Rani at the hotel.

However, according to him, the charges were fabricated.

“During the meeting, an opinion was formed that Antasari and Rani had committed an improper act. This was not true and was just a fabrication,” said Juniver.

Antasari, said Juniver, admitted to knowing Rani in 2006 as a caddy for Modern Golf in Tangerang, Banten, and never met again after that.

Then, in May 2009, Rani sent an SMS to Antasari asking about her activeness as a member of Modern Golf because Rani has become a marketing staff and is no longer a caddy.

Juniver emphasized that the relationship between Antasari and Nasrudin was still good after the meeting at the hotel.

In fact, Nasrudin had asked Antasari for help so that one of his relatives was accepted to work at the KPK.

Antasari’s confession

Antasari, who was sentenced to 18 years in prison, took various legal measures to release him.

Antasari’s legal team submitted a clemency request to President Joko Widodo on Tuesday (28/4/2015).

The request for clemency even received support from Nasrudin’s family such as Irawati Arienda’s wife and the victim’s younger brother, Andi Syamsuddin Iskandar.

Antasari was finally sentenced to parole on November 10, 2016, after passing two-thirds of his sentence.

He was purely acquitted in 2017 after Jokowi granted a clemency request.

Apart from trying to be free, Antasari has appeared on a number of television shows to emphasize his innocence.

Including when being interviewed in the program “Aiman” at Compass TV, Saturday (16/1/2016), Antasari denied that Rani had ever been caddy-nya.

“Rani never did it once caddy me, but conditioned so caddy I need to connect, “said Antasari.

Several months before his parole, Antasari was a guest at the “Mata Najwa” event, Metro TV, on August 24, 2016.

“I emphasize tonight, there is no love triangle. That is all nonsense. I can be confronted with the person concerned at this time. Nonsense. And I did not commit murder, let alone the puppeteer,” said Antasari.

“During the trial the judge asked, ‘Is there really a love triangle?’ I said no, “he said.

In the event, Antasari also exposed Rani’s role. He admitted that he had received threats from a woman who was none other than Rani.

“It was not Nasrudin who terrorized me, but a woman,” said Antasari.

“Rani?” Najwa confirmed.

“Yes,” answered Antasari.

Antasari did not explain what terror Rani had committed. However, that prompted him to meet Rani at the hotel.

“I never denied that I met,” said Antasari.

“Why at the hotel? I was the chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission, I could not possibly be in places that are for public consumption,” he continued.

Regarding the prosecutor’s charge of sexual activity at the hotel, Antasari denied it.

“We were just chatting, the distance is the same as me and you (Najwa) at this time,” said Antasari.

Rani, according to Antasari, asked to meet because she wanted to convey a message from her superior.

However, when they met, Rani didn’t give any messages. So, Antasari felt trapped.

“You know Why is that? I said, ‘I’m busy.’ Then is it not trapping his name? “He said.

Antasari explained, the judge’s indictment that Rani offered to extend membership in Modern Golf at the hotel was also untrue.

“He told the judge, ‘I think this Mr. Antasari has a crush on me.’ That’s his name GR,” said Antasari.
