The Murcia taxi asks that the regulatory powers belong to the municipalities

Radio Taxi Murcia has exposed the “difficulties” that the sector is experiencing, highlighting that 90% of salaried drivers have been laid off during the health crisis.

According to its president, Sergio Navarro, professionals in the sector “agree” with the regulation made by the regional government, although with nuances.

“A generic law for the entire Region may have negative consequences”

The president of Radio Taxi Murcia has stated, which is why he has asked that the powers of exclusive dedication or the number of employees per license be transferred to the municipalities, since “they are those who know the characteristics of the sector.”

In this sense, it has proposed to modify the Royal Decree that regulates the sector, aiming for the city councils to determine whether the license holder must be fully dedicated or not.

Regarding exclusive dedication, Navarro has indicated that they think that taxi drivers in large cities:

“They must have” exclusive dedication, “since they can live fairly well. And, he said, if they combine their activity with another, “the quality of the service will be lost.”
